For 20+ years, I led marketing for some of the world's biggest brands. We won huge pitches for Apple, BMW, Visa, and delivered brilliant outcomes.
But I kept seeing the same problem: there was a growing gap between what brand leaders intended and what actually landed in market.
Marketers were spending half their time on operational friction instead of building brand equity. Brand guidelines lived in PDFs nobody read. Each market interpreted things differently. AI tools were fragmenting workflows instead of connecting them. Legal was overstretched. Product teams held the facts but never fed the narrative. The safest option kept winning.
So I left. I trained with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and became an assessor on their sustainable marketing programme.
When marketing teams understand the rules, the evidence, and the brand guidelines from the start, they deliver wildly creative work.
